I painted this guy with my creepy brush. I know there are many tentacled demons boiling up out of Nefryt, but this is the guy I see Tornin cutting apart in Vlaske K'Brak

May is Demon a Day month!

I have something special planned for my readers. I got the idea from John Gregory Hancock, author of A Plague of Dreams.

Every day in May I am going to draw a different demon from the pages of the Gifts of Vorallon trilogy. These demons will all be in lovely shades of black and printed on postcards. Readers of my books who friend me on Facebook AND on Goodreads can email me their address and recieve up to three of these cards (one for each book of mine they have read), all autographed and even personalized if you wish. Everyone who has already read any or all of my books is elegible, but the cut off date will be June 7th to request your choice of demons.

This is your opportunity to get a signed and numbered signature plate and have an extra bit of Vorallon.

Start on Captain Falraan

Just a start, very little specific reference on the face...tried to let my the Falraan from my imagination come out and I think I am nearly there. I have to make her a tad bit younger.

 

Tornin arrives

In a blur of motion, Tornin stands before Lorace, placing himself between the remaining wolves and their intended prey.

I spent more time on this than I should have, but it's Tornin.

A spirit restored

This is a portion of Lorace's dream. As a child, he chases a golden butterfly through a field of moon-like flowers. Before he can catch the butterfly, it bursts into a shower of golden sparks.

This went together very fast, less than an hour start to finish - mostly due to my getting the hand "just right" with just a few strokes of color, a feat which I must try to duplicate in the future (hand - feat? no pun intended). Also the background being diffuse and dreamlike helped make things quick. 75% of the time was spent drawing sparks.

He did not need to look to know the wolves were in pursuit.

I am not going ape about my anatomy on this one, but I kept to my maxim of drawing fast for these images. There's a difference in how someone runs for their life rather than just running a sprint, capturing that is hard - I tried to show it by throwing his body fairly off of its centerline. I will undoubtedly revisit him and work things over again.
